Escape into the tranquility of Ķemeri National Park with the Sloka Lake Nature Trail, a 3.1 km loop that immerses you in Latvia's natural beauty. The trail winds through a variety of forest settings, including swamp forests and pine woodlands, alongside the picturesque Sloka Lake. Starting and ending at the lake, the trail provides convenient access with a parking lot and picnic area. A notable feature is the 7-meter-high floating observation tower, offering panoramic views of the lake and its abundant waterfowl. Birdwatchers will find this spot particularly rewarding, especially during the spring and autumn migration periods. The trail itself is primarily an earthen path, with wooden boardwalks spanning the wetter sections, such as the Vēršupīte swamp forests. These boardwalks, approximately 80 cm wide, ensure a comfortable passage through the more challenging terrains. Along the route, you'll encounter interesting sites like a sulfur spring near the lake and a large boulder. For those seeking a bit of activity, there are also some sports elements suitable for children. While the main loop is 3.1 km, adventurous visitors can extend their hike. Options include a visit to Lake Melnezers, exploring the Sloka Bog, or even continuing to the beach at Jaunķemeri. It's recommended to visit the trail in late spring, summer, or early autumn, as sections may be flooded during wetter periods. Be prepared for mosquitoes and ticks in the summer. Note that the trail is not suitable for wheelchairs.
