Kronvalda Park, originally known as Strēlnieku Garden, spans 11.92 hectares in Riga's central district, with the city canal gracefully dividing it into two sections. In 1863, after the city's dikes were dismantled, the Union of Riga German Riflemen established a society house and shooting ground here. By 1883, architect Georgs Kūfalts expanded the park, introducing around 2,000 rose bushes to its flowerbeds. In 1927, the State transferred the garden to the city, tasking garden architect Andrejs Zeidaks with creating a landscaped park. During the 1930s, it was named in honor of Atis Kronvalds. Today, visitors can enjoy a harmonious blend of natural beauty and historical elements, including diverse tree species, sculptures, and water features. The park also features a playground, roller skating tracks, and boat rentals during the summer. Kronvalda Park frequently hosts cultural events, making it a vibrant destination for locals and tourists alike.
