Riga City Hall: A Symbol of History and Governance

Riga City Hall, located on Rātslaukums (Town Hall Square), is more than just a government building; it's a symbol of Riga's complex history and its commitment to transparency and modern governance. The original City Hall was built in the early 14th century, but it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history. The current building is a replica of the 19th-century design by Johann Daniel Felsko, which was destroyed during World War II.The reconstructed City Hall, opened in 2003, features a facade that mirrors the old City Hall, complete with the coat of arms of Riga and a sculpture of Themis, the Goddess of Justice.
