Discover more about Batroun Mountains Organic Winery

Batroun Mountains Organic Winery, a family-owned estate since 2003, offers a unique glimpse into Lebanon's rich viticultural heritage. Located in the picturesque mountainous region of Batroun, the winery prides itself on crafting a diverse range of organic wines, all certified to meet EU organic standards. The vineyards span across eight plots in six villages, situated at altitudes ranging from 400 to 1500 meters above sea level. The vines struggle in the dry, well-drained stony soil, producing superior quality grapes of well-concentrated juice with intense flavor and color. This struggle is what makes the grapes and the wines dynamic. The winery cultivates 35,000 vines over 11 hectares, harnessing the unique terroir to create wines that reflect the local landscape and climate. Visitors to Batroun Mountains can enjoy guided tours of the vineyards, learn about the organic winemaking process, and taste the award-winning wines. The winery produces five red wines, three white wines, two rosés, two sparkling wines, a brandy, four liqueurs, and two varieties of arak. The Hark family, who own and operate the winery, are dedicated to crafting wines that reflect their values. They carefully designed the terraced fields to deter soil erosion, shred and recycle all trimmed woods back into the soil, and use only organically certified fertilizer. No herbicides are ever used; weeds are controlled by planting selected competing weeds. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of the summer (September/October). Great care is put into pre-picking for select bunches early in the harvest, followed by a selective harvest of premium bunches for fermentation.
