From the Byblos Old Souk, walk towards the port area. The church is situated on Rue de Port, conveniently located between the port and the archaeological site. It's a short walk and easy to find.
Public Transport

If arriving by bus or service taxi from Beirut, you will likely stop on the national motorway M51. From there, it is approximately a 5-minute walk to downtown Byblos and the church. Local taxis are also available for a short ride into the town center; expect to pay around LBP 10,000-20,000 for the short trip.

Saint John Marc Church, also known as the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, is a prominent historical and religious site in Byblos (Jbeil), Lebanon. Constructed in 1115 A.D. by the Crusaders, the church reflects Romanesque architecture and has served as a central place of worship for the Maronite Christian community.Dedicated to Saint John Mark, the patron saint of Byblos, the church is believed to have been built on the ruins of an ancient idolatrous temple. Throughout its history, the church has faced numerous challenges, including earthquakes, invasions, and damage from military actions. After the departure of the Crusaders, the church fell into disrepair for several centuries.In 1764, Emir Youssef Chehab donated the church to the Lebanese Maronite Order, which restored and reopened it in 1776. Further damage occurred during British bombardments in 1840, but the church was once again restored. Today, Saint John Marc Church stands as a symbol of resilience and faith, attracting visitors with its serene interiors, intricate stone carvings, and historical significance. One notable feature is its open-air domed baptistery, dating back to the original 12th-century construction.
