Heidiweg: A Scenic Journey into Heidi's World

The trail begins at the Maienfeld train station and is well-marked with red signs. The path leads you through the charming streets of the historic town of Maienfeld, past Brandis Castle and some magnificent fountains offering refreshing drinking water. Leaving the town, the trail meanders through vineyards that characterize the region, leading towards Rofels. A gentle uphill walk brings you to the Heidi Village (Heididorf), where the story truly comes alive. Here, you can visit Heidi's House, a 300-year-old building that inspired Spyri's tale, and experience how Heidi and Alpöhi (her grandfather) lived. Explore Heidi's Alp Cottage, a replica of the hut where Heidi spent her summers, and immerse yourself in the surroundings that shaped her life. The Heidiweg continues through the unique landscape to the Heidi Fountain and eventually returns to Maienfeld train station through picturesque alleys. The entire circular route is approximately 6.5 kilometers long and takes about 1.5 hours to complete.
