Discover more about Cellars of the Prince of Liechtenstein

The Cellars of the Prince of Liechtenstein, also known as Hofkellerei, provide an immersive journey into the world of winemaking with a royal touch. Located in the heart of Vaduz, the winery has been in the Princely Family's hands since 1712 when Prince Johann Adam of Liechtenstein acquired the county of Vaduz. The family's legacy in winemaking, however, dates back even further to the 1400s. The estate's prime location in the Rhine Valley benefits from mild temperatures and warm, downslope winds, creating ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder) and Chardonnay grapes. The Herawingert vineyard, with its four hectares of contiguous vines, is the core of viticulture in Liechtenstein and one of the best sites in the Rhine River Valley. Visitors can embark on guided tours to discover the winemaking process, explore the vineyards, and appreciate the picturesque setting with views of Alpspitz and Helwangspitz. Wine tastings offer a chance to savor a selection of the estate's red and white wines, with an on-site sommelier available to provide insights. The winery also partners with a restaurant housed in a medieval building with one of Europe's largest grape presses. The vineyards are farmed without chemicals and are certified chemical-free. The wines are not widely exported, making a visit to the cellars a special opportunity to taste these rare and unique delicacies.
