Heidiweg: A Scenic Journey into Heidi's World

The Heidiweg, or Heidi Trail, is more than just a hiking path; it's a journey into the heart of a timeless story. Located in Maienfeld, Switzerland, the trail winds through the stunning landscapes that inspired Johanna Spyri's novel, Heidi. As you walk along the Heidiweg, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Alps, lush meadows, and charming vineyards. The Heidiweg starts at the Maienfeld railway station and takes you through the historic town of Maienfeld. The path is well-marked with red signs, making it easy to follow. The trail then leads to Rofels, passing vineyards along the way, and continues to the Heididorf, a recreation of Heidi's village. Here, you can experience what life was like in the 19th century and visit Heidi's house. From Heididorf, the Heidiweg continues to the Hotel Restaurant Heidihof, which offers a large viewing terrace. The trail then leads to an old oak tree with a spiral staircase that provides a majestic view of the valley. Finally, the path leads to the Heidi Fountain before winding back through the vineyards to Maienfeld. The entire loop is approximately 6.5 kilometers long and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
