Kunstraum Engländerbau: Contemporary Art in a Historic Setting

Kunstraum Engländerbau, located in the heart of Vaduz, is a dynamic center for contemporary art. Situated on the second floor of the historic Engländerbau building, it provides a platform for artists from Liechtenstein and the surrounding region to showcase their work. The Engländerbau itself is a significant landmark. Built in 1933/1934, it was the first steel-frame structure in Liechtenstein, originally serving as the headquarters for a British lottery company. The building has a rich history, having housed a dental factory, a radio station, and even the Liechtenstein State Art Collection before the collection moved to the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. Since 2002, the Engländerbau has been dedicated to contemporary art, hosting changing exhibitions that encompass a variety of genres, including painting, sculpture, installation, and performance art. The Kunstraum Engländerbau aims to make contemporary art accessible to a wide audience, promoting exchange and networking within the art world. The exhibitions are designed to be thought-provoking, encouraging visitors to engage with the art and the ideas behind it. The space hosts four to five solo or group exhibitions each year, accompanied by a diverse program of events.
