Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are near the Kaunas City Center, start at the main pedestrian street, Laisvės Alėja. Walk towards the direction of the Žalgiris Arena. Once you reach the arena, continue walking straight until you reach Maironio Street. Turn left onto Maironio Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Vytauto Avenue. Turn right onto Vytauto Avenue and walk until you see the signs for Kaunas Castle. The castle will be on your left side just before you reach the confluence of the Neris and Nemunas rivers.
Public Transport
You can take bus number 30 from the Kaunas bus station. Board the bus and get off at the 'Kauno pilis' stop. From there, walk towards the river; Kaunas Castle will be directly in front of you. If you prefer, you can also take a tram (line 1 or 2) from the train station to the 'Kauno pilis' stop, which is conveniently located near the castle.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, head to the riverside bike path that runs along the Nemunas River. Follow the path toward the city center. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Kaunas Castle, which is situated near the river's confluence with the Neris River. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes depending on your starting point in the city.
