Getting There

  • Public Transit

    From downtown Baton Rouge, make your way to the nearest bus stop. You can take the CATS Route 2 bus heading southbound towards the 'South Blvd.' stop. Once on the bus, stay on for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the 'Highland Rd. @ Perkins Rd.' stop. After getting off, walk east on Perkins Rd. for about 0.3 miles until you reach Highland Rd. Turn left on Highland Rd. and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. The Highland Road Park Observatory will be on your right at 13800 Highland Rd.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer to bike, start at the LSU campus, heading south on Dalrymple Dr. until you reach Highland Rd. Turn left onto Highland Rd. and continue biking for about 3 miles. The observatory will be on your left at 13800 Highland Rd. Be cautious as this route includes some traffic areas.

    If you're near the LSU campus, you can walk to the observatory. Start at the LSU Student Union and head south on Dalrymple Dr. Continue until you reach Highland Rd, then turn left. Walk straight for approximately 3 miles along Highland Rd. The observatory will be on your left at 13800 Highland Rd. This walk will take about an hour, so wear comfortable shoes.
