Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Baton Rouge. Take I-10 East and exit at LA-1 South toward Grand Isle. Merge onto US-61 South and continue for about 20 miles. Then take the exit for LA-74 East toward St. Gabriel. Follow LA-74 for approximately 5 miles. Chatsworth Plantation will be on your right at 5755 Hwy 74, St Gabriel, LA 70776. Make sure to look for the plantation sign as it can be easily missed.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, the first step is to take a Greyhound or Megabus from New Orleans or Baton Rouge to St. Gabriel. Once you arrive in St. Gabriel, you will need to use a local taxi service or rideshare app like Uber or Lyft to reach Chatsworth Plantation, as it is about a 5-mile ride from the bus station. Ensure that you schedule your return transportation in advance, as public transport options may be limited.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Baton Rouge. Take the scenic route along the Mississippi River, following the levee paths that connect to LA-1. Once on LA-1, head south and turn onto LA-74 East, following the signs for St. Gabriel. The total distance is about 25 miles, so be prepared for a longer ride. Make sure to wear a helmet and carry water, as there are limited stops along the way.
