Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from downtown Bayou Teche, take Main St heading south. Continue on Main St until you reach LA-86 S. Turn left onto LA-86 S. Continue on LA-86 S for approximately 10 miles until you reach the intersection with US-90. Merge onto US-90 W. After about 5 miles, take the exit toward New Iberia/LA-182. Turn right onto LA-182 E and follow it for about 3 miles. Turn left onto Rip Van Winkle Rd, and Rip's Rookery will be on your left at 5505 Rip Van Winkle Rd, New Iberia, LA 70560.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you will first need to take a local bus to the nearest bus station that connects to New Iberia. Check with the local transit authority for schedules to ensure timely connections. Once you arrive at the New Iberia bus station, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to Rip's Rookery. The taxi ride should take around 15 minutes and will cost approximately $15-$20. Ensure to have cash or a credit card ready for payment.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, from downtown Bayou Teche, take Main St south towards LA-86 S. Follow LA-86 S for approximately 10 miles. You will find bike lanes available on parts of the route. Once you reach the intersection with US-90, you can carefully navigate to LA-182 E. Ride along LA-182 E for about 3 miles until you reach Rip Van Winkle Rd. Turn left onto Rip Van Winkle Rd, and you will find Rip's Rookery on your left. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated!
