Getting There

• Public Bus

  From central New Orleans, head to the nearest bus stop where you can catch the RTA bus route 202, which goes towards Mandeville. Board the bus and stay on until you reach the stop at Highway 190 at Madisonville. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the stop, walk south on Highway 190, then turn right onto Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, located along the riverfront.

• Ferry

  Make your way to the Canal Street Ferry terminal in New Orleans. Board the ferry that crosses the Mississippi River towards Algiers Point. Once you disembark, head to the Algiers Ferry terminal and catch a rideshare or taxi to Madisonville. The drive will take around 30 minutes. Ask the driver to take you to the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, which is located in Madisonville along the river.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you enjoy cycling, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in New Orleans. Take the Lafitte Greenway bike path heading north until you reach the intersection with the Pontchartrain Expressway. Continue following the signs that lead you towards Madisonville. The ride is approximately 30 miles, so be prepared for a longer journey. Once you arrive in Madisonville, ask locals for directions to the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, which is easily accessible along the riverfront.
