Bourbon Street: The Heartbeat of New Orleans

Getting There

• Bus

  From Slidell, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Greyhound bus towards New Orleans. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times. Once you arrive at the New Orleans terminal, exit the station and take a left on Poydras Street. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Bourbon Street, then turn right. You will find Bourbon Street a few blocks ahead.

• Train

  Make your way to the Amtrak station in Slidell. Board the Amtrak train heading to New Orleans. The ride will take around 1 hour. Upon arriving at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal, exit the terminal and walk towards Canal Street. From Canal Street, walk towards Bourbon Street and turn left. Bourbon Street will be just a short walk away.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, you can ride along the scenic route from Slidell to New Orleans. Start on Gause Boulevard and head west until you reach the bridge over the lake. Continue onto the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, which leads directly into the heart of New Orleans. Once across the bridge, navigate to Bourbon Street by following the signs or using a map application on your phone.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to experience the local scenery, you could walk to a nearby bus or train station in Slidell, like the Slidell Transit Center, and take public transport to New Orleans. Once in New Orleans, walk to Bourbon Street by heading south on Chartres Street, then taking a left on St. Louis Street. Follow St. Louis until it intersects with Bourbon Street.
