To reach Fort Pike, begin by locating the nearest bus stop to your current location in Slidell. You can take the Jefferson Transit bus route 88 towards St. Bernard. The bus will take you to the nearest stop on Chef Menteur Highway. Once you arrive at the Chef Menteur stop, walk east on Chef Menteur Highway for approximately 1.5 miles until you see Fort Pike on your left. Ensure to check the bus schedule for arrival times to avoid long waits.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Slidell. Start your journey by heading south on Gause Boulevard, then take a right onto Old Spanish Trail. Follow this road until it merges with Chef Menteur Highway. Continue biking east on Chef Menteur Highway for about 5 miles until you reach Fort Pike, which will be located on your left. Please ensure to wear a helmet and follow local cycling traffic rules.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, start from the center of Slidell and head east on Gause Boulevard. After about 3 miles, you will reach Old Spanish Trail. Turn right and continue straight for another 2 miles until you reach Chef Menteur Highway. From there, turn left and walk for about 1.5 miles. Fort Pike will be on your left. This scenic walk will take approximately an hour, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
