Car
If you're driving from Toliara (Tulear), head north on Route National 7 (RN7) for about 20 km. Turn left onto Route N1 towards Ifaty, which is approximately 27 km from the junction. Follow the signs for Ifaty, and as you enter the village, continue straight until you reach the entrance of Spiny Forest Ifaty, located at VJJH+CG, Ifaty. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation (Taxi-Brousse)
To reach Ifaty from Toliara, take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from the main taxi-brousse station in Toliara. Look for a taxi-brousse heading to Ifaty, which usually departs frequently throughout the day. The fare is approximately 2,000-5,000 Ariary (about $0.50 to $1.50). The journey will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Ifaty drop-off point, you can walk or hire a local taxi to take you directly to Spiny Forest Ifaty at VJJH+CG.
Walking
If you’re already in Ifaty and wish to walk to Spiny Forest, head towards the beach and follow the path leading inland. The forest is located roughly 2 km from the main village area, and the walk should take about 30 minutes. Ensure you have comfortable shoes, and consider taking a local guide for a more informative experience.
