Walking
From the center of Diego Suarez, start at the intersection of Avenue de la République and Avenue de l'Indépendance. Head north on Avenue de la République towards Boulevard de la Liberté. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at the end of the road. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route Nationale 6 heading towards Antsiranana (Diego Suarez) harbor. Keep walking along this road for about 2 kilometers. You'll pass various shops and local eateries. After reaching the harbor area, look for signs directing you to 'Viewpoint French Mountain' or ask locals for directions.

After you've reached the harbor, continue past the docks and follow the road that leads upwards towards French Mountain. The trailhead should be noticeable and marked. Ascend the path, which may be steep in some areas. It's advisable to take breaks as you climb. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful views of the bay and surrounding landscapes. The hike to the viewpoint should take approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace.

Once you reach the viewpoint at French Mountain, take a moment to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Diego Suarez and its surroundings. This is a great spot for photos and to rest before beginning your descent. When you're ready to return, simply retrace your steps back down the mountain to the harbor and back into the town center.
