Getting There

Car Travel
If you are traveling by car from the town center of Ihorombe, head southeast on Avenue de la République. Continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 7 (RN7). Turn right onto RN7 and drive for approximately 30 kilometers. You will see signs indicating the direction to Onilahy River. Look for a dirt road on your left. Turn onto this road and drive for about 5 kilometers until you reach the river. Note that some parts of the dirt road may be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

Public Transportation
From the main bus station in Ihorombe, take a bush taxi (taxi-brousse) heading towards Ambalavao. The fare is usually around 15,000 Ariary (approximately $4). Inform the driver that you want to get off at the turn-off for Onilahy River. This should take about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the turn-off, you may need to hire a local guide or a motorcycle taxi (pousse-pousse) for around 5,000 Ariary ($1.50) to take you the remaining 5 kilometers to the river, as public transport does not cover this last stretch.
