Walking
From Mandrare River, head towards the village of Mandrare and locate the main path that leads to the south. Follow the signs for Isalo National Park. The walk will take you through beautiful landscapes and local villages. Expect the journey to take several hours, so bring water and snacks.
Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike directly from Mandrare River. Take the trail that leads towards the hills and follow the natural path that guides you southward. After approximately 10 kilometers, you should reach the outskirts of Isalo National Park. Be sure to have a map or a local guide, as the trails can be tricky.
Local Taxi-Brousse
In Mandrare River, find the local taxi-brousse station. Purchase a ticket to Ranohira, which is the nearest town to Isalo National Park. The taxi-brousse will take you along a scenic route. Once you arrive in Ranohira, you can either walk or hire a local guide to take you into the park, which is about 15 kilometers from the town.
Bicycle Rental
Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Mandrare River. Head towards the main road leading to Ranohira. The ride will take you through stunning landscapes and may take around 2-3 hours. Once you reach Ranohira, lock your bike and proceed to Isalo National Park on foot.
