Getting There

Walking
From the main Visitor Center at Acadia National Park, head southwest on Route 3. Continue walking until you reach the junction with the Bar Harbor Road. Turn right onto Bar Harbor Road and follow it until you reach the entrance to the Bar Island Trailhead. The trailhead is clearly marked and will lead you directly onto the Bar Island Trail.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Bar Harbor. Once you have your bike, head towards the Shore Path which runs along the coast. Follow the Shore Path north until you reach the intersection with Route 3. Turn left onto Route 3 and continue until you find the entrance to the Bar Island Trailhead on your right.
