Getting There

• Public Transit

  From downtown Augusta, walk to the nearest bus stop on Water Street. Catch the Kennebec Explorer bus heading south towards Boothbay Harbor. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Boothbay Commons stop, then walk approximately 15 minutes along Route 27 (also known as Boothbay Road) heading towards Boothbay. Follow the signs for Botanical Gardens; the Native Butterfly House is located at 105 Botanical Gdns Dr, near the entrance of the gardens.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Augusta. Head south on Water Street, which turns into Route 27. Follow Route 27 all the way to Boothbay. The ride is approximately 12 miles and will take about an hour. Once you arrive in Boothbay, follow the signs for the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens; the Native Butterfly House is located at 105 Botanical Gdns Dr, right at the entrance.

• Walking

  Walking to the Native Butterfly House from downtown Augusta is quite a trek, approximately 12 miles. Start by heading south on Water Street, then continue onto Route 27. This route is not recommended for walking due to the distance and lack of sidewalks for parts of the way. If you choose to walk, ensure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. Once you reach Boothbay, head to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens at 105 Botanical Gdns Dr, where the Native Butterfly House is situated.
