Getting There

• Bus

  From the Augusta Downtown area, head to the nearest bus stop located at the corner of Water St and State St. Look for the Kennebec Explorer bus service that operates routes to Boothbay. Purchase a ticket from the driver. The bus will take you to Boothbay, where you will alight at the Boothbay Harbor stop. From the bus stop, walk towards Botanical Gardens Dr, which is a short 10-minute walk. Follow the signs to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, where the Lyn and Daniel Lerner Visitor Center is located.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Augusta. Start by cycling north on Water St, then take a left onto State St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Route 27. Turn onto Route 27 and follow it all the way to Boothbay. The ride is approximately 12 miles and will take about an hour. Upon arrival in Boothbay, find signs for the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and follow them to the Lyn and Daniel Lerner Visitor Center.

• Walking

  If you're up for a long walk, you can trek from Augusta to Boothbay. Start from the State House in Augusta and head south on State St towards Water St. Once you reach Water St, turn left and walk along the Kennebec River until you reach the Route 27 junction. Continue straight on Route 27 for about 12 miles. This journey will take roughly 4 hours, so ensure you're well-prepared with water and snacks. Upon reaching Boothbay, follow signs to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens for the Lyn and Daniel Lerner Visitor Center.
