Getting There

  • Bus

    From the center of Bar Harbor, walk to the bus stop located at the Bar Harbor Village Green. Take the Island Explorer bus towards the Acadia National Park route. Make sure to check the schedule for the bus frequency. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop for ME-102, which is the Pretty Marsh Picnic Area. The bus ride will take approximately 25-30 minutes. Once you get off the bus, follow the trail signs to the picnic area, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Bicycle

    If you have rented a bicycle, start from the Bar Harbor Village Green. Head west on Main Street towards the intersection with ME-3. Turn right onto ME-3, and then take the left onto ME-102. Follow ME-102 for about 3 miles. The Pretty Marsh Picnic Area will be on your right. This route is a scenic ride, but be cautious of the traffic as you approach the picnic area.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk, start at the Bar Harbor Village Green and head west on Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with ME-3. Cross the road and follow ME-3 for about 2 miles until you come to the turn for ME-102. Turn left onto ME-102 and walk about 1 mile. The Pretty Marsh Picnic Area will be on your right. This is a longer walk, approximately 1.5 hours, but allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
