From Baxter State Park, head southwest on the Baxter Park Rd. towards the Millinocket area. Continue for approximately 10 miles until you reach the intersection with Maine Route 11. Turn left onto Route 11 and continue for about 20 miles until you reach the town of Ashland. In Ashland, take a right onto the Allagash Road (also known as the Allagash Wilderness Waterway Road) and follow it for about 30 miles. This road will take you directly to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway entrance. Be aware that this road may be unpaved and can be rough in places, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
