Reconnect with Nature at Wilderness Edge Campground

Getting There

• Car

  From the main entrance of Baxter State Park, head south on Baxter Park Road. Continue for approximately 10 miles until you reach the junction with Millinocket Lake Road. Turn right onto Millinocket Lake Road. After about 7 miles, Wilderness Edge Campground will be on your left at 71 Millinocket Lake Rd, Millinocket, ME 04462. Look for the campground entrance sign.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Bangor to Millinocket. The bus service is provided by Concord Coach Lines. Once you arrive in Millinocket, you can use a taxi or rideshare service to reach Wilderness Edge Campground. The campground is located approximately 15 miles from the Millinocket bus station. Make sure to confirm with the taxi service about the fare to Wilderness Edge Campground.

• Biking or Hiking

  If you are already in Baxter State Park and prefer a more adventurous route, you can bike or hike from the park to Wilderness Edge Campground. From the park, follow the established trails and park roads leading to Millinocket Lake Road. This will require navigating through some rough terrain, so ensure you have a map or GPS device to assist you. Expect this route to take several hours depending on your pace.
