To reach Mackworth Island from downtown Brunswick, start by heading southeast on Maine Street toward Park Row. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Pleasant Street. Turn left onto Pleasant Street and follow it until you reach the Foreside Road intersection. Turn right onto Foreside Road. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles, enjoying the views of the water along the way. As you approach the Falmouth area, look for signs for Mackworth Island. Follow signs onto the causeway that connects the island to the mainland. Once you reach the island, you can explore its walking trails and natural beauty.
Public Transportation
From downtown Brunswick, head to the nearest bus stop located at the intersection of Maine Street and Park Row. Catch the Metro bus Route 7 towards Falmouth. The bus will take you along Route 1. Stay on the bus until you reach the Falmouth area, approximately a 20-minute ride. Once you arrive, get off at the stop nearest to Route 88 and Foreside Road. From there, walk about half a mile to the causeway leading to Mackworth Island. Follow the pedestrian path across the causeway to the island.
Biking
If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Brunswick. Start on Maine Street heading southeast, then take a left on Pleasant Street. Continue until you reach Foreside Road. Follow Foreside Road towards the coast. This route will take you directly to the causeway leading to Mackworth Island. The ride is approximately 3 miles and offers scenic views. Once you reach the causeway, safely bike across to the island and enjoy exploring its trails.
