Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the city of Bangor, take I-95 South and merge onto I-395 East. Continue on I-395 until you reach US-1A. Follow US-1A and merge onto ME-1 North, which will lead you towards Prospect. Turn onto Fort Knox Road, where the observatory is located at 740 Ft Knox Rd, Prospect, ME 04981. The journey should take about 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Car

  From Bar Harbor, take ME-3 South towards Trenton. Merge onto US-1 South and continue until you reach the town of Bucksport. From Bucksport, follow signs for ME-1 North and then continue to Fort Knox Road. The observatory will be located on your right at 740 Ft Knox Rd. This drive should take around 45 minutes.

• Public Transportation

  Currently, there are no direct public transportation options to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory. However, you can take a bus from Bangor to Bucksport via the Downeast Transportation bus service. After arriving in Bucksport, you will need to call a local taxi service or rideshare to reach the observatory, which is approximately 7 miles away. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand for availability.

• Car

  If you are coming from Ellsworth, head north on ME-3. Once you reach Trenton, take the left exit to stay on ME-3, and then merge onto US-1 North. Continue on US-1 until you reach Bucksport, then take ME-1 North to Fort Knox Road. The observatory will be at 740 Ft Knox Rd. This route should take about 30 minutes.
