Car
If you are driving, start by entering '207 Lighthouse Rd, Stockton Springs, ME 04981' into your GPS. From any point in Penobscot County, take I-95 S towards Bangor. Merge onto ME-1A S towards Bucksport/Stockton Springs. Continue on ME-1A S until you reach Stockton Springs. Once you enter Stockton Springs, look for signs leading to Fort Point State Park, which will be on your left after approximately 4 miles. There is a parking area available at the park.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, check the Downeast Transportation website for bus schedules that run from Bangor to Stockton Springs. You will want to take a bus towards Bucksport and ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Fort Point State Park. The closest drop-off point will require a short walk of approximately 1 mile to the park entrance. Be sure to plan your trip ahead of time as bus schedules may not be frequent, and confirm the schedule for specific days.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, consider biking to Fort Point State Park. You can start your ride in Bucksport and take ME-1A S. The ride is approximately 8 miles and is relatively flat, following scenic views along the coast. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all safety guidelines. There are bike racks available at the park for secure parking.
Walking
If you're already in Stockton Springs, you can walk to Fort Point State Park. From the center of Stockton Springs, head south on Main Street until you reach Lighthouse Rd. Turn left onto Lighthouse Rd and continue straight for about 1 mile until you reach the park entrance. This is a pleasant walk with views of the surrounding area.
