Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest town or city around Lake Malawi, such as Mangochi or Nkhata Bay. From Mangochi, head east on the M5 road towards Makanjila. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs indicating the turn-off for Nyala Park, which is located at RV94+6RP. Follow the dirt road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the park entrance. Ensure you have a map or GPS enabled device as signage can be limited. Entry fees may apply, so have some cash ready.
Public Transportation
Using public transportation, take a minibus or 'dala dala' from any major town around Lake Malawi towards Mangochi. Once in Mangochi, you can catch another minibus heading towards Makanjila. Inform the driver of your destination, Nyala Park, and they will drop you off at the closest point to the park entrance. Be prepared for a short walk of about 1 kilometer from the drop-off point to the park entrance. Entry fees are required, so bring cash.
Bicycle
For the adventurous traveler, consider biking to Nyala Park from a nearby location such as Mangochi. Use the M5 road towards Makanjila and then take the dirt road towards RV94+6RP. The ride is approximately 35 kilometers and offers beautiful views of the surroundings. Make sure to wear a helmet, carry water, and have cash for entry fees.
