Getting There

  • Car

    From the center of Livingstonia, head southeast on the main road (M5) towards the direction of the Livingstonia Mission. Continue straight for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the junction. At the junction, take a left turn onto the road that leads to Chombe Peak. You will see signs directing you towards the hiking area. Drive for about 1 kilometer on this road, and you will find a small parking area near the base of Chombe Peak. Note that the road can be quite rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Parking is typically free.

  • Public Transportation (Mini-Bus)

    From the main transport hub in Livingstonia, you can take a mini-bus heading towards the Livingstonia Mission. Ensure to inform the driver that you are heading to Chombe Peak. The fare is usually around 500 MWK (Malawian Kwacha). The mini-bus will drop you off at the junction near the Livingstonia Mission. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer along the dirt road leading to Chombe Peak. Look for signs indicating the direction. The walk may take about 15-20 minutes.

    If you are already in the vicinity of the Livingstonia Mission, you can easily walk to Chombe Peak. Start at the main entrance of the Livingstonia Mission and walk southeast along the road for about 1 kilometer. Watch for signs that will guide you. The walk is scenic, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, and will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.
