Start from the center of Livingstonia. Head south on the M6 road towards Rumphi. After approximately 15 kilometers, keep an eye out for signs indicating the turn-off to Kayola. Turn left onto the gravel road, which may be bumpy. Continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach Kayola Dam. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance for the gravel roads.

From the center of Livingstonia, look for local minibus services heading towards Rumphi. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off close to the Kayola turn-off. The fare is usually around MK 1,000 to MK 2,000. Once you get off, you will need to walk or hire a local taxi for the remaining 5 kilometers to Kayola Dam. Expect to pay around MK 1,500 to MK 3,000 for the taxi ride.
