Getting There

Walking
From the center of Mangochi, head south on the main road (Namwera Road) for about 3 kilometers until you reach a junction. At the junction, take a left onto a smaller road that leads towards the lake. Continue walking straight for another 1.5 kilometers, enjoying the local scenery. You will pass by some small shops and community areas. Keep walking until you reach the lakeshore. At the lakeshore, turn right and follow the path along the water, which will lead you to Otter Point. The walk will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your pace.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop in Mangochi. Start from the town center and head south on Namwera Road. After about 3 kilometers, turn left onto the smaller road leading to the lake. Cycle for another 1.5 kilometers until you reach the lakeshore. Once at the lakeshore, turn right and follow the path along the water for approximately 2 kilometers to reach Otter Point. This route should take around 30 minutes by bicycle.

For a quicker option, you can take a Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi). From the center of Mangochi, find a Boda Boda stand and negotiate your fare to Otter Point. The driver will take you along Namwera Road and then towards the lakeshore. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, and it is advisable to agree on the fare before you start your journey. Make sure to wear a helmet for safety.
