Getting There

Walking
Start at the center of Mangochi town, specifically at the Mangochi Market. From the market, head south on the main road (Chikangawa Road) for approximately 1.5 kilometers. Keep an eye out for local shops and vendors as you walk; this is a vibrant area. After reaching the junction with the M5 highway, turn left (east) onto the M5. Continue along this route for about 2 kilometers until you reach the sign for Thumbi view point. The path to the view point will be marked, allowing you to follow it directly.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from a local vendor in Mangochi. Start at the Mangochi Market and ride south on Chikangawa Road for 1.5 kilometers. When you reach the junction with the M5 highway, turn left onto the M5. Continue cycling for about 2 kilometers until you see signs directing you to Thumbi view point. The ride is scenic, so take your time to enjoy the views along the way.

For a unique experience, consider taking a boat trip from Mangochi. Head to the nearest boat dock along the shores of Lake Malawi. You may need to negotiate with local fishermen or tour operators for a boat ride to Thumbi view point. The boat ride will provide a beautiful view of the landscape and takes about 30 minutes. Ensure to arrange for a return trip with the boat operator to avoid getting stranded.
