Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Mzuzu, the largest city in Northern Region. Head southeast on the M1 road for approximately 60 kilometers (about 1 hour). After passing through the town of Ekwendeni, continue until you see signs for Mzimba. Turn left onto the road leading to Mzimba and continue for about 10 kilometers. As you approach the area, look for the signs directing you towards Lunyangwa Dam. Once you reach the coordinates H343+3X3, you can park nearby and enjoy the scenic views.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a minibus from Mzuzu to Mzimba. The minibuses frequently depart from the Mzuzu bus station and the fare is approximately 500 MWK. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Mzimba bus station, hire a local taxi or moto-taxi to take you to Lunyangwa Dam. The cost for a taxi ride should be around 1,000 to 2,000 MWK depending on your negotiation skills. Make sure to communicate your destination clearly to the driver.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can also hire a taxi from Mzuzu to take you directly to Lunyangwa Dam. This option is more expensive but offers convenience. Expect to pay around 10,000 MWK for a one-way trip. Ensure you negotiate the fare before starting your journey and confirm the drop-off point at H343+3X3.
