Getting There

Car
From Phalombe Plains, head north on the M1 road towards Zomba. Continue driving for about 35 kilometers until you reach the junction at Liwonde. Turn left onto the M5 road towards Liwonde. Drive for approximately 15 kilometers, and you will arrive at the entrance of Liwonde National Park. Make sure to have cash ready for the entrance fee, which is around 10,000 MWK for foreign visitors.

Public Transportation
From Phalombe, take a minibus to Zomba, which will cost around 1,500 MWK. The minibuses leave regularly from the main bus station. Once in Zomba, transfer to a minibus heading to Liwonde. The fare from Zomba to Liwonde is approximately 1,000 MWK. Upon reaching Liwonde, you can either walk to the park entrance (about 2 kilometers) or hire a local taxi for around 1,500 MWK to get you there faster.

If you prefer a more comfortable option, you can hire a taxi directly from Phalombe Plains. This will cost you around 20,000 MWK, but it will take you directly to the entrance of Liwonde National Park without the need for transferring between different forms of transport.
