Car
If you are traveling by car from Phalombe Plains, head towards the town of Phalombe and take the road to Livingstonia. Follow the main road for approximately 30 km. As you approach Livingstonia, look for a sign for the Manchewe Waterfalls. Turn onto the dirt road and continue for about 5 km until you reach the parking area for the waterfalls. Be sure to check your vehicle's clearance, as the road can be rugged in places.
Public Transportation
To reach Manchewe Waterfalls using public transportation, catch a minibus heading to Livingstonia from Phalombe town. The fare is usually around 500 MWK per person. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off at the closest point to the waterfalls. From there, you may need to walk approximately 5 km along a dirt path to reach the waterfalls. It is advisable to ask locals for directions if you are unsure.
Walking
If you opt to walk from the nearest drop-off point after taking a minibus, make sure to wear sturdy shoes. The path may be steep and uneven in some areas. Follow the dirt path, which will lead you through beautiful scenery and local villages. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the waterfalls, and feel free to ask locals for guidance if needed. The walk can take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace.
