Car
If you are driving from Blantyre, take the M1 highway south towards Zomba. After approximately 30 kilometers, turn onto the A6 road towards Lilongwe. Drive for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction for the Lilomba area. Follow the signs to Lilomba, and once in the village, ask locals for directions to the Malape Pillars as they can easily guide you. The pillars are located about 10 kilometers from the center of Lilomba.
Public Transportation
From Blantyre, take a minibus heading to Zomba. Once you reach Zomba, transfer to another minibus that goes to Lilomba. The fare for the trip from Blantyre to Zomba is around 1,000 MWK, and from Zomba to Lilomba, it should be about 500 MWK. Upon arriving in Lilomba, ask for directions to the Malape Pillars. It is about a 10-kilometer walk or you can hire a local taxi which may cost around 2,000 MWK.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from Lilomba to the Malape Pillars, start from the center of Lilomba and head towards the northwest. The journey is about 10 kilometers and will take approximately 2 to 3 hours on foot. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water, as the path can be uneven in some areas.
