Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Blantyre. From the city center, take Victoria Avenue and then turn onto Livingstone Avenue. Continue on this road for approximately 3 kilometers. The Independence Arch will be on your left, at the coordinates 52WV+69V. There is usually street parking available, but be mindful of local parking regulations.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To reach Independence Arch using public transport, find a minibus heading towards Blantyre from your current location in the Southern Region. Once in Blantyre, ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Livingstone Avenue. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk: head towards Livingstone Avenue and follow the road until you reach the Independence Arch. Make sure to have some Malawian Kwacha on hand for the fare, which typically costs around 300 MWK.
Walking
If you are already in Blantyre, you can walk to Independence Arch. Starting from the city center, make your way to Victoria Avenue and then onto Livingstone Avenue. It should take you approximately 30-40 minutes on foot. Enjoy the scenery as you walk, but be aware of traffic and stay on the sidewalks. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
