Walking
If you are starting from Sandakan town, head towards the Sandakan Central Market. From the market, walk along Jalan Leila until you reach the junction with Jalan Buli Sim Sim. Turn right onto Jalan Buli Sim Sim and continue straight. You will pass several local shops and eateries. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Keep left at the fork, which will take you onto Jalan Sepilok. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers, and you will see signs directing you towards Sepilok. Once you arrive in Sepilok, look for VWFV+63, which is the location of the Elephant tree. The walk from the market to the Elephant tree will take around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Sandakan town. Start your journey by cycling towards the Sandakan Central Market. From the market, proceed along Jalan Leila for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction. Turn right onto Jalan Buli Sim Sim. Continue cycling straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the fork in the road. Keep left at the fork to stay on Jalan Sepilok. Cycle along this road for about 5 kilometers. You’ll notice signs leading to Sepilok. Once you arrive in Sepilok, navigate to VWFV+63, the location of the Elephant tree. The bike ride should take around 30 to 40 minutes.
