Start at Sandakan Central Market, located at Jalan Utara. Exit the market and head south on Jalan Utara until you reach the intersection with Jalan Leila. Turn right onto Jalan Leila and continue walking straight. After about 500 meters, you will reach a roundabout. Take the first exit at the roundabout onto Jalan Taman. Continue straight for another 300 meters, and you'll see the Sandakan Municipal Council building on your left. The William Pryer Monument is located right next to the Municipal Council building.

From your location in Sandakan, find a local bus or minivan (known as 'bas') that is heading towards the town center. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Sandakan Central Market. Once you arrive, exit the market and walk south on Jalan Utara until you reach the intersection with Jalan Leila. Turn right onto Jalan Leila and walk straight for about 500 meters until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Jalan Taman, and continue for another 300 meters. The Sandakan Municipal Council building will be on your left, and the William Pryer Monument is located right next to it.
