Car
If you are driving from Kuala Lumpur, take the North-South Expressway (E2) and head south. Follow the signs towards Johor Bahru and take the exit towards Kota Tinggi (Exit 256). Continue on Route 3 towards Desaru. Once you reach Bandar Penawar, follow the signs to Desaru Public Beach, which is located at 90, Desaru, 82200 Bandar Penawar, Johor. The drive typically takes about 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic.
Public Bus
From Kuala Lumpur, take a bus to Johor Bahru. Buses leave from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) and the journey takes about 4 to 5 hours. Once in Johor Bahru, head to Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal and catch a bus to Desaru. The bus ride to Desaru will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Inform the driver to drop you off at Desaru Public Beach, located at 90, Desaru, 82200 Bandar Penawar, Johor. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary.
Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service
If you're in a nearby city like Johor Bahru, you can use a taxi or a ride-hailing service like Grab to reach Desaru Public Beach directly. Simply enter the destination as 'Desaru Public Beach' or '90, Desaru, 82200 Bandar Penawar, Johor' in the app. The fare will depend on your pickup location but expect to pay around RM 80 to RM 150 for a one-way trip from Johor Bahru. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
