Ferry
The primary way to reach Guraidhoo from Malé is by ferry. The public ferry departs from the Villingili Ferry Terminal in Malé. There are two types of ferries: a direct ferry and a province ferry. The direct ferry to Guraidhoo takes approximately 2 hours and costs around MVR 30 (USD 2) per person. The province ferry stops at Gulhi and Maafushi before reaching Guraidhoo, taking about 2.5 hours. Ferry schedules vary, with some routes not operating daily. Check the latest schedules with your guesthouse or the ferry terminal. A taxi from Velana International Airport to the Villingili Ferry Terminal in Malé costs approximately MVR 25.
Speedboat
A faster option is to take a speedboat from Malé. Speedboats typically take 30-45 minutes to reach Guraidhoo and cost around USD 35 per person. Speedboats can be arranged through your guesthouse or tour operators. They depart from Malé or the airport, often near the Bank of Ceylon. Private speedboat hires are also available, costing around USD 250 per boat (maximum 10 people).
