Car
If you are in Kaafu Atoll and have access to a car, you will first need to drive to the nearest harbor that has boat services to Sandbank. Head towards the main harbor in Malé, which is approximately 20 km away from most points in Kaafu Atoll. Once at the Malé harbor, look for the boat services that operate to Thinadhoo. Ensure you check the schedule beforehand, as the boat services may vary. The boat ride to Thinadhoo takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach the harbor in Malé via public transport, take a bus from your current location to Malé. The bus system is quite efficient, and you can catch a bus from various points in Kaafu Atoll. Once you arrive in Malé, head to the main harbor. From there, you will need to purchase a ticket for a ferry or speedboat to Thinadhoo. The boat ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Make sure to check the departure times and buy your ticket in advance, as they can sell out quickly, especially during peak tourist seasons.

After arriving at Thinadhoo, you will need to hire a local dhoni (traditional Maldivian boat) to take you to the Sandbank. You can find several boat operators at the Thinadhoo harbor. The cost for hiring a dhoni can range from $30 to $80 depending on the size of the boat and the duration of your stay at the Sandbank.
