Erected in 1845, the statue is the creation of sculptors Sigismondo Dimech and Salvatore Dimech.The statue itself is approximately four meters high, depicting St. Paul with a Bible in his left hand and his right hand raised. At his feet is a snake, referencing the biblical account of a serpent biting Paul without harm. The statue stands on a platform that is 8.3 meters high, created by Francesco Spiteri. An inscription on a marble slab at the base of the statue reads, 'To the Apostle St Paul, Master and Doctor of the Church of all People, Father and Patron of the Maltese…'.Visitors to the statue can enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding landscape.
