Discover more about Castello Dei Baroni

Nestled in the serene countryside of Wardija, Castello Dei Baroni offers a unique blend of history and elegance. Constructed on the site of what may have been a peasant's lodge dating back to the Order of St. John, the Castello was elevated to its current status around 1783 during the reign of Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan. It served as a hunting and summer residence for prominent Knights. In the 20th century, the Attard Montalto family built the Castello Dei Baroni, incorporating the old structure. Later, Adrian Busietta and Maria Caruana purchased the property and renovated it into a mock castle, giving it its present name. Today, Castello Dei Baroni serves as the headquarters for the Knights Hospitalliers of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. The castle features a medieval reception hall suitable for weddings, events, and gala dinners. The grounds include a chapel, an original wine cellar, and 17th-century bedrooms, including the Grandmaster's bedroom. Visitors can explore the castle's chambers, which recreate the atmosphere of the 18th century, such as the Grandmaster's bedroom and the Hunting Room. The castle also houses a library containing ancient books on doctrine and law. With its lush gardens and open spaces, Castello Dei Baroni provides a picturesque setting for any occasion. The owners, Chevalier Baron Adrian Busietta and Dame Marie Angelique Caruana, have overseen the renovation and maintenance of the castle, establishing it as an exclusive location for special occasions in Malta.
