Discover more about Dingli Cliffs

The Dingli Cliffs offer visitors a serene escape into nature with unparalleled views of the open sea and the Maltese coastline. The cliffs stretch for about 7 kilometers, from Dingli to Filfla, characterized by their Upper Coralline Limestone composition, shaped over millions of years by waves and winds. Historically, the cliffs served as a natural defense, and in the 16th century, the Order of St. John fortified them. Legend suggests that the area and the village of Dingli were named after the English knight Sir Thomas Dingley, who settled there in the 16th century. The cliffs also hold agricultural significance, with evidence of terraced farming dating back centuries. Today, the Dingli Cliffs are a major tourist attraction, known for their stunning sunset views and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks along the Triq Panoramika, a cliffside path stretching over 3 kilometers, or explore hiking trails that reveal the area's natural beauty. The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene, perched on the cliff edge, adds to the area's charm. Nearby attractions include the Buskett Gardens, the Dingli Caves, and the historical cities of Mdina and Rabat.
