Grandmaster Palace Courtyard: A Glimpse into Malta's History

Located in the heart of Valletta, the Grandmaster's Palace Courtyard is a testament to Malta's rich and multifaceted history. Originally built in the 16th century, the palace served as the official residence of the Grand Master of the Order of St. John, who ruled Malta from 1530 to 1798. From 1800, it was used by the British, later becoming the official residence of the British governors. In 1921, it was the location of Malta's first Constitutional Parliament, and following independence in 1964, it became the seat of Malta's Parliament and the Presidential Office.
