Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is a one-of-a-kind attraction in Mellieħa, Malta, born from the 1980 musical production 'Popeye'. Constructed in 1979 as the film set for the movie starring Robin Williams, this village has transformed into a beloved open-air museum and family entertainment complex. The village consists of nineteen wooden buildings, brought to life by an international crew of 165 builders. The construction was an ambitious project, requiring materials from across the globe, including tree trunks from the Netherlands and wood shingles from Canada. Today, Popeye Village offers a variety of attractions and activities. Visitors can explore the original film set, watch animation shows, and visit the Popeye Comic Museum. During the summer, Anchor Bay transforms into a water park with inflatable water structures, sunbathing decks, and boat rides.
