Ferry
The primary way to reach Gozo is by ferry from Malta. The Gozo Channel Line operates ferries from Ċirkewwa, the northernmost point of Malta, to Mġarr Harbour in Gozo. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes. From Malta International Airport, you can take the direct bus route X1 to Ċirkewwa. The bus departs every 45 minutes, with the earliest trip around 5:20 am and the last at 10:50 pm. A taxi from the airport to Ċirkewwa costs around €32. The Gozo Channel ferry costs €4.65 for adults and €1.15 for children for a return trip. You only pay on your return journey from Gozo to Malta. Alternatively, Gozo Highspeed operates a fast ferry service from Valletta to Gozo for foot passengers only. The journey takes 45 minutes and costs from €12 to €40 depending on the season and demand. Once in Mġarr Harbour, Gozo, you can take a taxi or public transport to your final destination. A taxi from Mġarr to Victoria costs approximately €15. Public buses connect Mġarr Harbour to various locations on Gozo.
Public Transport
Gozo is well-connected by public buses, operated by Malta Public Transport. The main bus terminal is in Victoria, with routes to all major villages and attractions. A single bus ticket costs €2.50 during the day and €3 at night. Alternatively, a 7-day unlimited travel card costs €25 for adults. From Mġarr Harbour, you can take bus 301 to Victoria, which runs every 30 minutes. Taxis are also available, with fares varying depending on the distance. App-based services like eCabs and Bolt operate on the island.
Car
If you are driving from Malta, follow signs to Ċirkewwa to catch the Gozo Channel Ferry. You will pay for the ferry on your return to Malta. Once you arrive at Mġarr Harbour in Gozo, you can drive to your destination. Driving is on the left. Be aware that roads can be narrow and winding in places. Parking in Gozo is generally easier than in Malta. In Victoria, there is free parking next to the bus terminal and paid parking nearby for €2 per day. Be aware of parking restrictions, such as yellow bays for residents only and timed zones.
